Drives gasoline or diesel powered tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver company merchandise long distances by performing the following duties.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Hook and unhook trailers from the tractor.
Unload trailer with store personnel at each location.
Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight.
Drives truck to destination in accordance with DOT regulations.
Inspects truck and trailer for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating condition.
Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight loading dock areas.
Ensure that all shipping documentation (e.g. manifest, security seals sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, or freight bills, etc.) required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.
Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver's logs, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law.
Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
Report all accidents involving driver or company equipment.
Report highway safety hazards noted en route.
Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick-up of delivery of cargo.
Demonstrate professionalism by representing the company and the trucking industry through responsible driving.
Ensure safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination.
Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures, and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.
